He guided Ole Miss to back-to-back nine-win regular seasons for the first time since 1962 and four consecutive bowl games for the first time since 1971. ### SEC Coaching History The SEC received a boost in its head coaching cabinet when Hugh Freeze was officially named the head coach of the Auburn Tigers in November 2022. Freeze is best known for leading Ole Miss to the SEC West title in 2014 and 2015. ### Return to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Freeze now the coach at Liberty will return to Vaught-Heminway Stadium as the visiting coach when the Flames (7-2) play No. 15 Ole Miss (6-2) on Saturday at 11 am on SEC Network. At Ole Miss, Freeze compiled a 19-21 overall SEC record across five seasons with a strong two-year stretch from 2014-15 in which the Rebels went 11-5 in the league and were ranked in the top 25. ### Coaching Comeback Auburn's hiring of Freeze caps a remarkable turnaround for a coach who was driven out at Mississippi over a recruiting scandal. Freeze was 39-25 in five years as the Ole Miss coach with a 3-1 record in bowl games and two top-25 finishes. After a second notice of allegations was made public in May, Freeze was fired in July 2017.
